Description
In competitive analysis, the overall effectiveness of two or more competing products is compared. This method is particularly effective when comparing websites; however it can also be used to compare software or hardware products across a set of competitors.
One of the advantages of competitive analysis is that it does not require users. Although the evaluation can be left open-ended, clients are often curious about specific tasks that a user must be able to accomplish. Klein Research can help clients determine the primary goals of the product and the tasks a user must be able to accomplish in using it. After developing a comprehensive list of tasks to be performed on the product and similar product(s) offered by competitors, we conduct the analysis.
Number of participants
No users are required for competitive analysis.
Deliverables
One detailed results document is produced, which includes details on the analysis and a set of recommendations for improving the product or system.
The findings report is typically delivered in Word or PDF format. If requested, summarized findings and recommendations can be developed into a PowerPoint presentation.
Timeline
The timeline varies based on the number of competitive products included in the analysis. In the case where only two products are analyzed, the competitive analysis and delivery of detailed results can be completed in as few as five business days after receiving a purchase commitment.
